Marble Tub Surround
Take a look at this beautiful marble tub surround. (photo above left). Made from 12″ x 12″ natural white marble tiles with an ornate gray 3/8″ x 6″ liner. I have a long list of tub surround jobs, this is one of my favorites.
The layout of the room was unique, creating an interesting design opportunity. The tub was a salvaged 5′ tub with finished right side and foot end and the room width was over 6′ wide. Since the tub didn’t reach the wall we decided to create a tiled “tub area” that included the surrounding wall and floor area. (photo above middle)
The materials were mostly reused or leftover stock. The client took care to collect a selection of fixtures and materials that met her tastes and budget. A great example of sustainability. The floor is a mix of 12″x24″ gray porcelain tiles, cut strips of the marble tile, and a border of 16″ x 16″ gray porcelain tiles. (photo above right)
The client finished off the remaining details (photo not shown) patch hole, paint, install storage cabinet, & install pedestal sink (materials also reused).
