Mission
Company Mission: To serve the community with integrity providing high quality products and service in keeping with the principals of sustainability.
Business Philosophy: I believe that all businesses have a mandate to offer a benefit to the communities that support them. As well, I believe that we have a duty to future generations to pass down a healthy planet. I don’t consider Green Building to be a marketing target, I see it as doing the right thing, running my business according to my values. I consider it a joint effort between myself, suppliers, and customers to reach a common goal of sustainability. Ultimately the choice of products is up to the you, the customer. I aim to educate you on your options. There are green options for all price points.
I am constantly looking to find ways to improve efficiency, better construction techniques, or ways to eliminate waste. I am open to your suggestions on how we can improve.
Commitment to Customer Satisfaction: If you are looking for quality work and an enjoyable experience with your contractor then you have come to the right place. I enjoy the work I do. I take pride in the details of my work and find it gratifying to meet or exceed my clients’ expectations. Remodels can be dirty, unpredictable, and disruptive to the home and home owner. It is my contention that through clear communication, a commitment to containment, and by completing projects in a timely manner the negative effects can be minimized. You will soon forget the days without access to your kitchen or bath when you are cooking a delicious meal or taking a soothing bath in your new favorite room. I will work with you to achieve your desired results.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: This principle is applied throughout the remodeling process. During the demolition or as I like to call it “deconstruction” process there are a number of ways to help minimize the amount of building materials that end up in the landfill. First and foremost is to avoid doing demolition in the first place. Careful planning can avoid unnecessary waste. Second is to reuse materials when possible. Moldings and lumber can sometimes be reused on site and if not will be taken to a used building material store like the ReBuilding Center or the Habit ReStore. Unused left over new materials like tile can also be donated. Items that can be recycled like scrape wood can be taken to Wood Waste Mgmt where they are ground and used for compost.
Keep it Local: In this modern global economy it seems to get harder every day to find local sources for the products we buy. Fortunately we live in the Pacific Northwest and have a number of local wood sources to choose from. I am always looking for new local suppliers and welcome any suggestions. There are many benefits to purchasing products locally, including; reduced carbon footprint, providing local jobs, and reinvesting money into the local economy. As an added benefit, since we live in the great city of Portland, many of those businesses also have a commitment to sustainable practices. Together we can have a real impact.
